Psico Comp

The weekend we moved to the Salt Lake Valley we had the privilege of attending the Psico Comp held in Park City. We were excited to meet up with our good friends, and we were psyched to watch so many influential climbers compete! The competition was thrilling to watch as they did it in a format different from any climbing competitions we had seen in the past. Two identical routes were set on the overhanging wall and climbers competed in pairs. Whoever got the highest, or the highest fastest, advanced to the next round. I was very impressed by the mental and physical stamina the athletes displayed! It’s always inspiring to attend events like this.

The Overlook

We were able to spend a few sessions at the Overlook this summer which was especially fun for Kara and I! We both were able to redpoint Heimi and Reconciliation this summer and it was a blast!

I wish that we'd had time for a few more sessions but I guess it's good to have something to look forward to going back to! Casey and I have now moved to the Salt Lake valley. We are enjoying the new environment and we're hoping it will cool down soon so we can get outside!

Bunker

Before this heat wave hit us, we were able to put in quite a few good sessions at Bunker Creek sending old projects, discovering new lines, and having a great time!

 Casey and the Seths started working on this project on one of the Roadside boulders. There is a previously established problem, the Bookie V6, that exits to the right. 

 This huge boulder in the Springfield area has two bolted routes on it. It is kind of tall...but Casey and Tommy knew it was definitely boulder-able (new word?!) with a little work on the landing. They started working on the landing last Fall and then the Seth's helped finish it this spring. Now there is an awesome landing under the boulder problem Yo Mama's Boyfriend. I think they decided it's about V6/7.

Casey has been working on putting together a video with all of our Bunker Creek footage. We are waiting for good temps for just a few more sends and then it should be ready. I have been excited to see it come together! Hopefully we'll be ready for the premier soon!

Summer!

Summer is here and with it came the hot temps of Southern Utah. Since bouldering has reached the point of sweaty finger frustration here, we have been making our transition to sport climbing. It's always an adjustment for us since we tend to stick with bouldering throughout the winter, but this year it has been going really well and we are psyched!! 

Crawdad Canyon is a fun Spring crag with lots of nice short climbs to help us mentally get in the game!

No pictures of me on our camera but believe it or not I have been tying myself in for some climbs. I did my 12b project in one hang and I can't wait to try it again!

 Casey and I made ourselves some checklists to stay on track for our sport climbing goals! :) 

Spring Boulder Box Comp

The Boulder Box hosted another fun bouldering competition this spring. After hours of cleaning holds, setting, and testing routes, it was a lot of fun to have competitors come and try them out!

Spring Break at Joe's Valley

Casey and I were able to spend some time at Joes Valley for spring break this year. We also spent a day at Barn Canyon. Beautiful areas with so much amazing rock! Unfortunately the trip ended on kind of a bad note as you'll see from the video!
