the Priest Draw
The main destination of our road trip: the Priest Draw! Definitely did not disappoint. The amazing rock with awesome features, the trick beta, the crazy roofs...we loved it all! The two days we spent bouldering there only left us thirsting for more. We had a blast camping, exploring, working the problems, and meeting other climbers.

Kestri and I climbing the right face of the Anorexic roof.
Casey on Twister. So steep!
Funnest warm-up boulder ever! Amazing that a boulder can look like this! We kept ourselves entertained with unique warm-up variations.
Bryce with the "Eye-Candy" variation. Probably his best send of the trip. :)
Climbing the Fin. So fun!
Casey and Bryce on the Black Roof.
Casey edited a sweet video of some of our road trip sends so we are working on uploading it. Stay tuned for some sweet climbing!

The North Rim
Last summer while hiking with our family on the Grand Canyon's north rim we stumbled upon a nice little bouldering area. We thought it would make a nice stop on our way to the Priest Draw. It actually ended up being one of the highlights of the trip! The rock is solid and the features are incredible!
Amazing views

360, behind the back, under the leg, double-handed SLAM DUNK!!!!!
Yesterday Casey and I made our way to the Wash for a break from end-of-the-semester-project stress. He was excited to get on Globetrotters V10 again, this time without the grease! Conditions were just about perfect when we arrived. It had been overcast all day and there was a nice, cool wind keeping the temps down.
I worked on some V2's and a 4 on the Front Door boulder with no luck on the 4. They are fun mantle problems over a little cave on a huge boulder, so I will definitely make my way back!
We were taking our time waiting for the sun to go behind the hills for Casey's problem until we noticed some black clouds making their way over us in the sky. It started sprinkling really lightly so we hurried up to the Bowling Ball, joking about how it would be funny if it started to downpour when we got there. Sure enough, about 30 seconds after we arrived the rain started coming!
Apparantly it only served as good motivation to hurry and get the send before conditions worsened!
Way to go Casey! It was a sweet send. Only his second go of the day!
I wish the picture quality of the video was better so you could see the tiny crimps he was pulling on.
He also put up a new line on the south face of the boulder starting on low crimps and finishing on Crash (v3). He thinks it's about a V6 grade and calls it Spirit Guide in honor of the Red Tail Hawks that have been accompanying our big sends as of late.
And I just liked this leaf because it held on all winter! Pretty tough little guy! I'm wierd I know...

a day in the life...the Wash
We like having the Wash so close, practically in our own backyard. It is a great place to escape for a few hours and enjoy just being outside! Yesterday we went out for a bouldering session after school and although the temps were a little too warm for comfort, we still had a good time.

Casey and I had a rough day of injuries.
First of all, there is a mysterious type of cactus at the wash. I don't know what it looks like because I can never find it when I search, but it knows what I look like and somehow it finds me. I swear it must be hiding under some rock that I walk by and it shoots out hundreds of little needles at me whenever I pass by. Yesterday was no exception. The worst part was that before I noticed the needles stuck in the bottom of my pants, I kneeled on them. Yeah. Painful. Add sitting on two pine needles to that and it makes for a kind of uncomfortable climbing day. Entertaining at least.
And congratulations to Bryce on getting not one, but two V7's (his first) in one day!
