Rewind...

I have to apologize for my lack of posting lately. Credit it to school burn out...but now it's the holiday vacation! Two whole weeks of freedom. We're hoping that by next week the sky will be all rained out so we have some good climbing weather in Southern Utah. Here is a rewind of our climbing adventures over the last little while since we last posted. Oh and congratulations to Zach for winning the Cruxmas Bouldering Comp at the Front!!!!!!!! That is awesome!! And a very honorable mention to Andy Calves. Great job to both of you. :)

Johno (sorry if the spelling is wrong) sending Device Ignitor Left with a little bit of Zach in the background. :) Sorry these pics aren't edited at all.

Ode to our Cedar Crew Climbing Friends

Ok, so I'm not exactly sure what the word "ode" means, but I imagine it is something really good. Like a toast. I was laying here sick in bed (those first grade germs finally got me despite loads of hand sanitizer....I'll spare you the details), feeling quite bored, so I decided to look back through our old posts. We have had some amazingly fun times. I am so glad Casey introduced me to climbing and to so many wonderful people. We love you guys!
So here's to fun times and great people!

The Early Bird Gets to Climb

The weather is changing and with that comes our traditional Moes Valley trips. We really love that place. Especially this weekend because Tommy and Bridget came for a weekend visit! We left Hurricane early Saturday morning to beat the weather and got quite a bit of good climbing in before the rains came down. Here are a few pictures of our crew this weekend working the classic problems of Moes.

10 reasons why I love to climb

In no particular order:

1. Being outside. This world is so amazing! Climbing allows me to appreciate it on both a large and small scale.

2. Being with friends. I wish all my good friends were serious climbers, there really is no better way to pass the time.
3. Learning to push my limits. I love the idea that no matter what I can change and grow, I can adapt and learn, I can train and grow stronger.
4. Sending! Sometimes hard work does pay off.
5. Feeling and learning movement. I like to think that I'm the boss of my body, I can make it do what I want it to. I love the feeling of control.
6. Exhilaration.Yee Haw!
7. Escape. Life sucks some days, but when I'm climbing the only things that exist are me, my friends, and the current project. Everything else diminishes.
8. Learning focus and control. Climbing is very much mental to me. If I'm not motivated, optimistic and relaxed I can't even come close to my limit. It's a learning process.
9. Adventure. I love to visit new places and see new things. There are so many amazing places to climb. I hope that one day I'll be able to travel on a larger scale.
10. Feeling alive!

So there you have it. Maybe I'm a bit cheesy, but hey, we all have our passions (at least I hope we do).  Climbing happens to be the way that choose to spend my time. It's the way I want to experience the world around me.  Bottom line: CLIMBING IS FUN!

Webb's Day Off

What is better than a long weekend you may ask? Time taken off of school/work while everyone else is still suffering! :) Casey and I did just that a few weekends ago. He took off school, I took off work, we jumped in the Neon and drove to Vegas! The reason? The 2010 Reel Rock Tour. It was great. The filming was incredible and the climbing inspiring. There was also a lot of good humor that we enjoyed. Plus the crowd who came to watch it was quite entertaining. "She must be Chris Sharma's grandma...cuz she definitely isn't a rock climber." :)  I guess a free movie night is a free movie night for everyone!
We stayed at a hotel, slept in, had breakfast in bed, and went bouldering at the Kraft boulders the next day. It was heaven! Seriously. One of the best weekends in October. And we've had some great weekends. I live for the weekends. We live great lives.
We loved the boulders, even though we didn't know what a lot of the stuff was. The rock quality is awesome, the movement was fun, and there was a very high concentration of boulders. We give it a 7.5. It was also fun to have time to play with the camera!
Casey sent Monkey Bar Direct v9.

I found some cool v3ish problems that were fun to send!
We are definitely game for a trip back sometime.

Joe's Valley trip

Thank heaven for long weekends and good friends is all I have to say. Our weekend trip to Joe's Valley was a HUGE success!! The Cedar crew tore it up! What an incredible place. Everyone climbed amazingly well, launching bouldering season with a great start. I could literally (almost) feel the excitement in the air. The recent sends list will need to be totally remodeled. Enough words, here are the pics!

Cameron had an awesome first trip to Joe's! He is progressing very quickly! Good job!
Greg also had a great weekend, sending problems left and right!

Tommy never ceases to amaze us with his incredible bouldering ability, even after having a broken wrist and not climbing for like a year!

Climbing at the Front is obviously going well for Andy as he also spent the weekend with send after send!

Not only is Zach a great guy, he is also a great climber! So strong!
Joe had an incredible weekend as well, so I hear. I never actually saw him climb so it could just be rumor. :) Just kidding of course.  Sorry I didn't get any pics of you Joe!
My favorite climber Casey (sorry everyone, we're married what can I say?) also did great!! He sent Marble Cake v9/10 in just a few tries and made great progress on Resident Evil. We have to go back in a few weeks because it is going down!

Bridget proved that she has awesome technique and retains her climbing ability amazingly well even as a first year teacher! Yay for girl climbing buddies. :)

I had fun too of course!! Didn't even want to come home in fact. The life of a climbing bum is sounding more and more appealing every day. :)

Our friend who had one too many sips of beer before trying to learn how to boulder. Yes, you do have to lift your bum off the ground before you move your hand to send the problem. Very entertaining!

Casey looking great on Wills a Fire, my new project. A must do for anybody who is close to that level!

We also have a few videos that we will post asap.
